Birthday Celebration Turns Deadly in Mumbai
A 21-year-old student suffered horrific burns after his friends allegedly set him on fire during what was supposed to be a birthday celebration in Mumbai. The incident occurred in the Vinoba Bhave police jurisdiction on November 25, which was the victim's 21st birthday.
The Gruesome Attack Details
According to the victim's brother, Abdul Rehman was called downstairs by his five friends at midnight to celebrate his birthday. What began as what seemed like typical birthday antics quickly turned violent and deadly.
Initially, the friends threw eggs and stones at Abdul under the guise of cutting the cake. However, the situation escalated dramatically when they retrieved flammable liquid from a scooter and poured it over the young student before setting him ablaze.
The entire horrific incident was captured by CCTV cameras that show the moment the young man became engulfed in flames. The footage has since circulated online, showing the brutal nature of the attack.
Aftermath and Police Action
Abdul Rehman sustained severe burns from the attack and is currently undergoing medical treatment at a hospital. His condition remains serious as he recovers from the traumatic event.
Police have arrested all five accused individuals identified as Ayaz, Ashraf, Kasim, Huzaifa Khan and Sharif Sheikh. The court has remanded them to police custody until November 29 as investigations into this shocking crime continue.
The motive behind the brutal attack remains unclear, with authorities working to determine what led the young men to commit such violence against their friend during what should have been a joyful celebration.
