The Taraba State Police Command has announced significant progress in combating crime, with the arrest of several suspects linked to armed robbery, criminal conspiracy, and breach of trust. Stolen property was also recovered in the operations.
In a statement released on Saturday and signed by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Victor Mshelizah, the Command detailed three separate cases that culminated in the arrests and recoveries.
First Case: Home Invasion and Robbery
In the first incident, police responded to a complaint filed on November 16, 2025, by Alhaji Hamishu Abubakar Sambo, who reported that armed men invaded his home in the early hours of the same day. The attackers, wielding cutlasses and sticks, stole a Honda Accord vehicle, several mobile phones, a television, cash, and personal belongings.
Following investigations by the State Intelligence Department (SID), four suspects were arrested: Aminu Abubakar Abi (40), Aliyu Salmanu (29), Aliyu Abubakar (33), and Daniel Boniface (22). Recovered items included two cutlasses, two touch lights, a 42-inch Samsung television, and a Redmi 13 Pro smartphone.
Second Case: Criminal Breach of Trust
In a separate case of criminal breach of trust, a tricycle owner named Abubakar Habeeb reported that his vehicle was unlawfully transferred to a third party after he entrusted it to Shamsudden Muhammad for personal use. Operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) tracked the suspects to Hulleri Village in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Three individuals were arrested: Ishaq Umar (23), Ibrahim Saidu, and Adamu Usman. The stolen tricycle was also recovered.
Third Case: Road Attack and Robbery
In the third case, two victims, Tanko Danladi (55) and Nmember Danladi (45), were attacked on April 26, 2026, along the Takum–Wukari Road. Police reported that the suspects, identified as Jibrin Idrisu (19) and Dahiru Ya’u Dopta (19), blocked the road using weapons including a locally fabricated gun, cutlass, and sticks. They robbed the victims of a motorcycle, cash, and a mobile phone.
Authorities confirmed that both suspects have been arrested and the stolen motorcycle recovered.
Ongoing Investigations and Public Appeal
The Police Command stated that investigations into all three cases are ongoing and assured that the suspects will face charges in court upon completion. Commissioner of Police, Moorkwap Sebastian Dongshal, reiterated the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state. He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
