A 15-year-old apprentice has tragically lost his life after what began as a workplace prank turned fatal when colleagues inserted a high-pressure air hose into his body at a carpentry workshop in Turkey.
The Fatal Incident
Muhammed Kendirci, the young victim, suffered catastrophic internal injuries on Friday, November 14, at a carpentry workshop in Bozova, a municipality within Turkey's Şanlıurfa Province. According to local reports, the teenager was physically restrained with his hands tied by fellow apprentice Habip Aksoy and another unidentified friend.
During the horrific incident, Kendirci's pants were forcibly removed before the perpetrators used a high-pressure compressor to inject air into his rectum. The violent act caused severe internal organ damage, including a ruptured intestine that would ultimately prove fatal.
Medical Response and Tragic Outcome
Emergency medical teams rushed to the scene and initially transported Kendirci to Bozova Mehmet Enver Yıldırım State Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to Balıklıgöl State Hospital before being moved to Harran University Research and Application Hospital for specialized care.
The young apprentice fought for his life in intensive care for five days before succumbing to his injuries on the morning of November 19. Despite medical efforts, the internal damage proved too severe for recovery.
Legal Proceedings and Public Outcry
Following the incident, legal authorities have taken action against those involved. Habip Aksoy was initially released on probation but has since been rearrested by the on-call court as the investigation continues.
The case has drawn significant public attention and condemnation. Suat Özçağdaş, a member of the Turkish parliament, expressed outrage on social media platform X, describing the incident as "torture" rather than a prank. He emphasized that the victim should have been in school rather than working as an apprentice.
"The prosecutor's office initially stated that the incident was a joke, not torture," Özçağdaş wrote on November 19. "Having struggled to hold on to life for five days, Muhammed tragically passed away today."
Kendirci was laid to rest at Bozova Asri Cemetery following his tragic death. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing as authorities determine the full circumstances and appropriate charges for those responsible.
