The Yobe State Police Command has initiated a massive manhunt for suspects connected to the horrific rape and murder of a 16-year-old girl in Gashua town, sending shockwaves through the community.
Gruesome Discovery Near Prison Fence
On Sunday, November 16, 2025, the lifeless body of Sadiya Suleiman was discovered in a pool of blood with her throat brutally slit near the New Prison Fence in Gashua. The teenage victim, who resided in Sabon Gari Ward, was found in the early morning hours following a distress call to authorities.
Police spokesperson SP Dungus Abdulkarim confirmed that Mai Anguwa Idris Haruna of Dadin Kowa Ward alerted the Bade Divisional Police Headquarters at approximately 9:00 AM about the gruesome discovery.
Medical Examination Reveals Sexual Assault
Detectives immediately mobilized to the crime scene and evacuated the victim to Specialist Hospital in Gashua, where medical professionals conducted a thorough examination. The medical report confirmed the teenager had been sexually assaulted before being murdered in what authorities described as a brutal attack.
Yobe State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, strongly condemned the act, labeling it as barbaric, unacceptable, and deeply disturbing. He assured the public that the police command would deploy all necessary resources to ensure swift apprehension of the perpetrators.

This tragic incident marks the latest in a series of violent crimes against women and children in Yobe State. Just one month earlier, another woman identified as Falmata was murdered in the same Gashua area.
