The suspects, identified as Amos Ajemigi, Tari Ofoezu, and Lots Alonge, are accused of assaulting Inspector Ige Olayinka, who is attached to the Okitipupa Area Command. At the time of the attack, Inspector Olayinka was on official duty in the community, investigating a petition that had been referred to her for examination.

According to preliminary findings, the officer was violently assaulted by the group while carrying out her lawful assignment. During the altercation, her service riot gun was forcefully taken from her, along with other personal belongings. The attack prompted an immediate response from the police command.

Police Response and Condemnation

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, Abayomi Jimoh, described the attack as an affront to constituted authority and a significant threat to public order. He emphasized that the command has zero tolerance for any form of violence against law enforcement personnel while they are discharging their lawful duties.

The arrests followed a swift and intelligence-driven operation launched by operatives of the command in response to the violent incident. Upon receipt of the report, the command immediately deployed personnel to track down those responsible, leading to the arrest of the three suspects directly linked to the attack.

The suspects have since been charged in court and remanded in a correctional facility. The Commissioner of Police for Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips, strongly condemned the attack.
