The Ondo State Police Command has made significant progress in the investigation of the violent attack on renowned Fuji musician Abass Akande Obesere, with three suspects now in custody. The incident occurred last Friday when the celebrated artist and his crew were ambushed following a funeral performance in Okitipupa, Ondo State.

Local Government Chairman Confirms Arrests

Okitipupa Local Government Area Chairman, Soga Andrew Ogunsakin, provided crucial updates on the case through his official social media channels. In a statement released on Sunday, the chairman confirmed that three individuals connected to the disturbance have been apprehended and are currently detained by security forces.

Mr Ogunsakin emphasized his immediate response to the incident, stating: "Upon receiving the report on the unfortunate incident involving Fuji legend, Abbas Akande Obesere, I immediately swung into action to ensure accountability and restore calm."

The local government chairman further revealed that some items reportedly stolen during the attack have been successfully recovered, though specific details about the recovered property were not disclosed. He assured the public that efforts continue to track down any remaining individuals involved in the assault.

Musician Demands Justice

Earlier on Sunday, the 60-year-old musician had issued his own statement through media manager Ayonla Althentic, calling on authorities to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators. Obesere reported that the attackers escaped with a bag containing his personal money during the violent confrontation.

In a positive development, Chairman Ogunsakin confirmed that he has initiated contact with Obesere's management team to schedule a meeting with the artist and his crew. This engagement aims to address concerns directly and provide clarity on the situation.

The chairman strongly condemned the violence, declaring: "Let me reiterate that this administration will not condone lawlessness or hooliganism in any form. We remain committed to safeguarding our image and upholding the cherished values of Ikale land."

Security authorities have received praise for their quick response and professional handling of the case, demonstrating effective collaboration between local government and law enforcement agencies in resolving the situation.
