The Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, has refuted reports alleging that President Bola Tinubu has converted from Islam to Christianity. He issued a statement on X on Thursday, May 28, urging the public to disregard the claims.
Official Denial
In his statement, Olusegun wrote: "Please disregard the video circulating claiming PBAT has converted. It is a lie... President Tinubu has always been a Muslim, while proudly supporting his wife, who is a Pastor. This unique interfaith harmony in his own home is what he brings to national leadership, which is unity and not conversion."
Viral Video Clarification
The clarification comes after a video surfaced online showing President Tinubu attending a church programme and allegedly asking for prayers. The video falsely claimed that the President approached the altar to seek prayers regarding his inability to stabilize the economy. Olusegun emphasized that the video is misleading and should be ignored.
The presidential aide reiterated that President Tinubu remains a devoted Muslim, and his family exemplifies interfaith unity. He called on Nigerians to focus on the administration's efforts to unify the country rather than spreading baseless rumors.
