A heartbreaking incident has occurred in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where a three-year-old boy, Abdullahi Musa, was found dead inside a well. The child was the son of Musa Baba, the vigilante commander of Zuba in Gwagwalada Area Council.
Details of the Incident
According to a resident, Ibrahim Idris, who spoke to Daily Trust on Friday, May 29, the tragedy unfolded on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, after the child was reported missing by his parents. The parents raised the alarm on Monday, May 25, when they could not find the child within their compound.
The child's body was discovered inside a well at approximately 11 a.m. on Tuesday. The mother immediately alerted neighbors, who rushed to the scene and retrieved the corpse from the well. The father was away when the body was recovered.
Burial and Family Account
Idris noted that the remains of the child were buried on Tuesday in accordance with Islamic rites. He also stated that the incident was not reported to security operatives in the area. A family member of the deceased, identified only as Yakubu, provided further details. He said the child went to defecate at the backyard of the house on the fateful day and was not seen again.
“The parents later searched the backyard but could not find him, a situation that threw the entire family into confusion,” Yakubu said. “So it was in the process that the family started going round the community in search of the child, until the next day, Tuesday, when the corpse of the child was discovered in an abandoned well.”
The community remains in shock over the tragic loss of the young boy.
