Troops from Sector 6 of Operation Enduring Peace have apprehended a suspect following a deadly attack by suspected Fulani militia in Rinyan village, Tahoss community, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State. The assault resulted in the death of a woman and left another injured.
Attack on Farmers
According to reports, gunmen killed Mrs. Hudung Luja, a 40-year-old farmer, and wounded another woman while they were working on their farmland. Security sources confirmed that troops responded around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday after receiving reports of the attack by suspected armed Fulani militia.
Upon arrival at the scene, the troops discovered one person dead and another victim who had sustained gunshot wounds. The injured individual was promptly evacuated to the General Hospital in Riyom for medical treatment.
Pursuit and Arrest
The troops immediately pursued the fleeing assailants but were unable to make direct contact with them. However, during the operation, one suspect was arrested and is currently in custody undergoing interrogation as investigations continue.
The military has maintained intensified operations across Plateau State to curb attacks and apprehend those responsible for violent crimes in the region.
