Truck Rams Bus on Sagamu-Benin Expressway: 1 Dead, 18 Hurt

A tragic accident on the Sagamu-Benin Expressway in Ogun State has resulted in one death and 18 injuries. The crash occurred at the Osoosa/Bigi Junction when a Mercedes-Benz truck, bearing registration number FZE 223 CR, lost control and collided with a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number KTP 331 XC.

TRACE Confirms Incident

Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), confirmed the incident in a statement. He attributed the crash to excessive speeding by the truck driver, who reportedly lost control and rammed into the bus.

Rescue Operations

TRACE operatives, along with personnel from Amotekun, the police, and the Nigerian Army, conducted rescue operations at the scene. The injured were taken to IDERA Hospital in Odogbolu, while the deceased was deposited at the Babcock University Teaching Hospital morgue.

Akinbiyi added that the accident vehicles had been evacuated and towed to the Papa Oscar yard at the Obalende Police Division.
