The Bauchi State Police Command has successfully dismantled an armed robbery syndicate that specialized in snatching mobile phones, leading to the arrest of seven suspects, among them twin brothers. The command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, made this known in a statement released on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
Swift Response to Distress Call
According to the statement, the breakthrough came after a distress call was received at ‘C’ Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate, around 3:25 p.m. on May 23, 2026. Police operatives quickly responded to a report of an ongoing robbery along Adamu Ajiya Street, near Ran Road in Bauchi. Their prompt intervention led to the apprehension of seven individuals linked to the criminal network.
Recovered Items and Victims
During the operation, law enforcement officers recovered a machete and a knife from the suspects. So far, two victims have been identified, and their statements have been taken to assist in the investigation.
List of Arrested Suspects
The arrested suspects include: Uzairu Adamu alias ‘Goje’, 20 years old; Mohd Dahiru alias ‘Kansila’, 28; Abubakar Usman alias ‘Polio’, 21; Buhari Suleman alias ‘Sino’, 20; Isa Muhd alias ‘Rio’, 20; and twin brothers Hassan Yusuf and Hussaini Yusuf, both 20 years old.
Ongoing Investigation
Preliminary investigations are underway, and efforts are being intensified to track down other members of the syndicate who remain at large. The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a discreet and thorough follow-up.
