Two police officers were killed on Sunday night, May 3, when unknown gunmen attacked a convoy of the Chief of Staff to the Anambra State Governor. The incident occurred along the Amansea-Ufuma area of Akwa, the state capital.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, confirmed the incident and stated that all formations and operational units of the Command have been given a 48-hour ultimatum to apprehend the attackers responsible for the killing of the two police officers.
According to eyewitness accounts, the police operatives were fatally wounded while repelling the attack on the convoy of the top Anambra State government official. The attack happened on the lonely Ufuma route under the cover of the dark night.
