A Nigerian woman living in the United Kingdom has made it clear that no amount of money can persuade her to return to Nigeria, revealing that she lost two children to medical negligence in her home country. During an interview with an online personality, she was offered up to £15 million to relocate permanently to Nigeria, but she refused, saying her decision to leave was never about finances.
Refusal of Lucrative Offers
The woman, an indigene of Ogun State, was initially asked if she would accept £200,000 to move back to Nigeria and never return to the UK. She declined, stating, “Unfortunately, I didn’t migrate from Nigeria because of money.” The interviewer then increased the offer to £300,000, £500,000, and finally £15 million, but she remained steadfast. “You can’t even pay me enough to go back,” she asserted.
Tragic Loss of Two Children
When pressed for her reasons, she disclosed that she had lost two children in Nigeria due to what she termed medical negligence. “I lost two children to medical negligence. Back to back in two years,” she said. She declined to elaborate further, explaining that recounting the experience would cause her emotional distress. “I really don’t want to say much on it because I’m just going to break down,” she added.
UK Doctors in Disbelief
According to her, healthcare professionals in the UK have expressed shock when she tells them how her children died. “Every time I tell them here, to the doctors here, that my children died because of this, they all ask me, ‘Am I joking?'” she said.
UK Healthcare Saved Her Son
The woman also credited the UK’s healthcare system for saving the life of her son, who she believes would not have survived if born in Nigeria. “When I had my son, I know my son was. If he was back in Nigeria, he would have died also. But because I had him here, there was medical attention. They did what was needed to be done and he’s fine,” she said, pointing to her son during the interview. The video of the interview was shared on Instagram by Linda Ikeji.
