Social media activist Vincent Martins Otse, widely known as VDM, staged a dramatic protest at the Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, demanding a public apology from Assistant Inspector General of Police Jimoh Moshood. The protest, which featured traditional dancers and a live singer performing in front of the building, centered on the case of a man named Hameed, whom the AIG allegedly declared wanted in connection with murder charges without a thorough investigation.

VDM argued that AIG Moshood acted recklessly by placing Hameed on the wanted list before conducting a proper investigation. He stressed that the senior officer was taking too long to issue a court-ordered apology, noting that a court had already cleared Hameed and directed the AIG to apologize. VDM used the occasion to raise broader concerns about the police's power to ruin innocent lives, alleging that officers can fabricate cases, plant substances, or place incriminating items in people's vehicles or belongings to secure wrongful convictions.
The activist framed the protest as a rescue mission for Hameed, who he said had no other advocate. The colourful demonstration, captured in a video shared on Instagram, showed VDM arriving with an unconventional entourage, including traditional dancers and a singer, as he made his demands known.
