Katsina State Police Command has apprehended a 20-year-old woman, Aisha Muktar Hassan, for allegedly killing her 97-year-old grandmother in Daura Local Government Area. The incident occurred on June 12, 2026, around 7:00 pm, following a misunderstanding between the suspect and her paternal grandmother, Hajiya Ummukhulsum Hassan.

Details of the Incident

According to the police spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the argument escalated when the suspect struck the elderly woman on the head with a wooden chair. The victim was found unconscious in a pool of blood after police responded to a distress report from the suspect’s father, Muktar Muhammad Hassan, aged 39.

The grandmother was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment but was later pronounced dead by the attending doctor.

Suspect Confesses

During the investigation, Aisha Muktar Hassan was arrested and confessed to the crime. She is currently in police custody and will be charged in court after the investigation is concluded. The police spokesperson assured that further developments would be communicated in due course.
