Violent Altercation Erupts Between Client and Masseuse in Mumbai Home
A disturbing incident in Wadala, Mumbai has captured public attention after a woman was allegedly assaulted by a massage therapist within her own residence. The violent confrontation, which was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media platforms, stemmed from the cancellation of a scheduled appointment.
Police Complaint Details the Assault
The complainant, identified as 46-year-old Shahnaz Sayyed, resides in Wadala with her son. According to her official police statement, she had booked a massage service through a popular app-based aggregator to address persistent discomfort from a frozen shoulder condition. The female therapist, Ashvini Vartapi, arrived at the scheduled time at Sayyed's home.
However, the situation quickly deteriorated when Sayyed expressed discomfort with the therapist's demeanor and the size of the massage bed brought for the session. After deciding to cancel the appointment and initiate a refund process through the application, the therapist allegedly became agitated and confrontational.
Physical Violence Follows Verbal Abuse
The police complaint details that the therapist first verbally abused the client before escalating to physical violence. The assault included hair-pulling, punches to the face, scratching, and pushing the woman to the ground. When Sayyed's son attempted to intervene and separate the two women, he was also reportedly pushed around during the chaotic altercation.
During the assault, the distressed woman managed to contact the police helpline. Law enforcement officers responded promptly to the emergency call but arrived at the residence after the accused therapist had already departed from the premises.
Investigation and Technical Issues
Following the incident, Shahnaz Sayyed formally registered her complaint at the local Wadala police station. Authorities have recorded a non-cognisable offence against the accused therapist and have launched a thorough investigation into the matter.
The investigation has revealed an initial technical issue with the therapist's details on the booking application, which police authorities have since corrected. This technical discrepancy has added another layer of complexity to the ongoing case examination.
Social Media Circulation and Platform Identification
The violent confrontation has gained widespread attention as video footage of the altercation circulates rapidly across various social media platforms. The incident reportedly involved a therapist from the home-service platform Urban Company, though this detail has been noted within the broader context of the police investigation.
Wadala police continue their active investigation into the assault case, examining all aspects of the incident including the initial booking, the cancellation process, and the subsequent violent confrontation that occurred within the complainant's home.
