Woman dies in Uyo fire after nightclub outing
An unidentified woman lost her life early Tuesday morning, July 21, after a fire engulfed a residential building along Ikpa Road in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State. The victim had reportedly accompanied a male companion to the residence after meeting him at a local nightclub earlier that night.
Fire breaks out at 5:30 AM
According to reports shared online by social media user Frank Tochukwu Fidelis, the fire started at approximately 5:30 AM, destroying properties worth millions of Naira. While the male resident managed to escape the burning structure unharmed, the woman was trapped inside and suffered fatal burns.
Public urged to verify information
In a post, Tochukwu wrote: “If you have a friend or relative who went clubbing in Uyo last night and has not returned home, please contact the appropriate authorities or visit the relevant hospital or police station for confirmed information, rather than relying solely on social media posts.”
The incident has raised concerns about safety in social settings and the importance of verifying details through official channels. Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the fire or the identity of the victim.
