A Nigerian woman, who previously went viral for proceeding with her wedding after her then-fiancé allegedly poured hot tea on her face, has now shared further details of the alleged physical, sexual, and emotional abuse she says she endured before, during, and after her marriage. In a series of posts, she recounted incidents of violence, financial neglect, and non-consensual acts, as well as her eventual decision to leave the marriage less than four years after the wedding.
Abuse Before the Wedding
The woman, whose identity remains anonymous, had earlier narrated how her fiancé poured hot tea on her face before their wedding, yet she still went back and married him. Now, she has shared screenshots of their chat where the man promised never to hit her again, instead saying he would keep malice with her. She thanked him for the promise and went ahead with the wedding.
She also claimed that he hit her and locked her outside before their wedding, forcing her to travel from Ogun State to Imo State that night. However, he later apologised, and she returned and continued with their wedding plans.
Marital Abuse and Financial Neglect
During the marriage, she alleges that her husband had non-consensual sex with her while she was still bleeding from childbirth. She added that she left the marriage when the alleged abuse continued and he refused to provide financially for their children.
When she needed urgent financial help for her sick children, she claims he asked her to meet him at a hotel so he could sleep with her before providing for his kids. She said she obliged, and he allegedly recorded the encounter and sent it to people. She shared a screenshot of their chat as evidence.
Post-Separation Harassment
Since leaving, the abuse has persisted, as he allegedly keeps storming into her house and coming into her room to try to sleep with her. She shared an audio of a man banging on her door, and she confronted him, asking why he insists on coming into her house when they no longer live together.
She also claimed her husband tried to cheat on her during their marriage, but no woman wanted him. She wrote: "When I realized say na rubbish I marry, na when I will give through this man's phone and discover that all the girls he's always asking out try to cheat on me with them, none of them agree for him. No Woman was willing to even sleep with him or snatch him away from me no matter how hard he tried. Every single one of them. And when we met he told me that before me he has never had a relationship that lasted up to 2 months and I thought I was very special. That I will marry once and marry right."
She added: "I was snooping to find out if he was cheating but ended up feeling sorry for myself."
Continued Intrusion and Threats
After their separation, he told her he would marry a beautiful 19-year-old girl from a rich family and move on. However, she says it's over a year, and he still won't let her be, coming to her house at 2am or 12am in the name of seeing the children.
She recounted one incident: "One time I even forgot to lock my bolt I only jammed door and slept off, only to wake up to this man on my bed where he removed my pant and was sniffing my nyash by 1am. Na outside I stayed till morning that day I couldn't go into my house again that night."
She acknowledged an exception: "There was an exception shaa, one girl wey dey hawk okpa in Nsukka one time like that agreed for him." She also noted that the children he always used as an excuse are now at his house.
