Woman Brutally Murdered While Heading to Market Near FCT Border
In a shocking incident that has raised security concerns in the region, a woman was murdered by armed assailants while on her way to Gadabuke market. The tragic event occurred at Dazhi village, which borders Gadabuke in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory and Zangabutu in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Details of the Tragic Incident
According to Danlami Yakubu, a resident of Dazhi village, the attack took place on Tuesday, November 18. The victim was ambushed by the assailants during what should have been a routine trip to the local market. The attackers reportedly stabbed the woman in the neck before fleeing the scene with her mobile phone.
Yakubu explained that fellow villagers later discovered the woman's corpse and immediately reported the incident to the police station at Gadabuke. "The police, upon receiving the information, quickly mobilized to the scene where the corpse of the woman was found lying inside the bush by the roadside," he stated.
Official Response and Security Measures
The chairman of Toto Local Government Area, Alhaji Ahmed Baba Yahaya, confirmed the incident on Thursday, November 20. Expressing deep sadness over the gruesome murder, the chairman revealed that the victim has yet to be identified but is believed to be a Fulani woman.
"I actually visited the scene in the company of the security operatives where I later addressed members of the community at the village head's palace and charged them to cooperate with the security agents by sharing useful information that would aid them in fishing out those behind such an act," Yahaya stated.
The council chairman, who has condoled with the family of the deceased, emphasized his administration's determination to protect the lives and property of all residents within the council area. He has directed security operatives to intensify efforts in apprehending the perpetrators of what he described as a "dastardly act."

A police source from the Gadabuke division, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that investigations into the murder have commenced. The police are working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify those responsible for the heinous crime.
