Youth Leader Brutally Beheaded in Rivers State, Corpse Discovered in Forest

In a shocking and gruesome incident, gunmen suspected to be cultists have beheaded the president of the Omoku Youth Federation in Rivers State, Comrade Ifeanyi Azuazu, and also killed his aide, Chigozie Oluwu. The violent attack occurred on Thursday evening, February 5, at a popular drinking joint along Ogolo street, off Palace road in Omoku, located within the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) of Rivers State.

Details of the Tragic Attack

The assailants, numbering about seven, arrived at the bar in two vehicles. Upon sighting the Youth President, they immediately pointed a gun at him and ordered him to get inside their waiting car. In a brave attempt to intervene, Chigozie Oluwu was shot at close range by the gunmen, leading to his instant death. This brutal act caused widespread panic among passersby and residents, who scrambled for safety, while some business owners hurriedly closed their shops for the day.

Recovery of the Body and Police Confirmation

On the afternoon of February 6, the police and members of the ONELGA Security and Planning Advisory Committee (OSPAC) recovered the headless and lifeless body of the Youth President from a forest in Omoku. The Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, CSP Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the killing of Chigozie Oluwu and the abduction, beheading, and recovery of the corpse of Omoku Youth President, Ifeanyi Azuazu.

CSP Koko added that the incident is believed to be cult-related. In response, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the matter with the aim of apprehending the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.
