The Zamfara State Police Command has announced the rescue of one of the seven students abducted from the Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda. The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Command's Spokesman, DSP Yazid Abubakar, and made available to journalists in Gusau, the state capital.

Details of the Incident

According to the statement, on 3rd June 2026, at approximately 0400 hours, a reliable source reported that unknown armed bandits stormed and attacked rented student accommodations on the outskirts of the Low-Cost area in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area. During the attack, the gunmen abducted seven students and fled to an undisclosed location.

Upon receiving the report, joint Police Tactical Teams and Military personnel attached to Operation Fansar Yamma (OPFY) based in Kaura Namoda were immediately mobilized to the scene. However, the hoodlums had already fled before the arrival of security operatives.

Rescue and Ongoing Efforts

Fortunately, one of the abducted students managed to escape and has since been reunited with the authorities. Security forces have intensified search-and-rescue operations to ensure the safe release of the remaining victims. Efforts are also underway to track down and apprehend the perpetrators of this criminal act.
