Major Child Trafficking Operation Foiled in Zaria

The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully dismantled a child trafficking syndicate, arresting three suspects and rescuing seventeen children in a carefully coordinated operation in Zaria Local Government Area.

According to police spokesperson DSP Mansir Hassan, the breakthrough came on Thursday, November 13, 2025, following credible intelligence about suspicious activities involving children under the Danmagaji Flyover in Zaria.

Swift Police Action Prevents Tragedy

Police detectives from the Danmagaji Division immediately launched an investigation after receiving the tip-off about the suspicious movement of children. Their prompt response proved crucial in preventing what could have been a major human trafficking incident.

The operation, which took place on November 12, 2025, at approximately 4:00 PM, resulted in the rescue of seventeen children of various ages who were allegedly being prepared for transportation to Abuja and other destinations within Nigeria and beyond.

Suspects Identified and Confess to Crimes

The police apprehended three individuals connected to the trafficking ring:

  • Musa Shuaibu, 21 years, from Funtua, Katsina State
  • Sani Mamman, 23 years, from Ingawa, Katsina State
  • Mubarak Ismail, 20 years, from Unguwa Uku, Kano State

During interrogation, the suspects admitted to gathering the children from different locations and confirmed they were in the process of transporting them to Abuja and other areas when police intercepted them.

Children Safe as Reunification Efforts Begin

Police authorities confirmed that all rescued children are in good health condition and currently receiving care and protection under the supervision of the Kaduna State Police Command.

Efforts are currently underway to locate the parents or guardians of the rescued minors and reunite them with their families. The police are working diligently to ensure each child returns to their rightful home.

Police Leadership Commends Operation

Commissioner of Police CP Rabiu Muhammad, psc, mni, praised the Danmagaji Division operatives for their swift and decisive action that prevented the trafficking operation.

The Commissioner emphasized the Command's zero tolerance policy toward child trafficking and exploitation, warning parents against falling for promises of better opportunities for their children in cities.

CP Muhammad assured the public that the suspects will face thorough investigation and subsequent prosecution once investigations are complete. He urged parents and community members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or individuals to the nearest police station immediately.
