Fresh Bandit Attack Rocks Kwara Community
Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen struck Isapa community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State on Monday evening, abducting ten residents after a violent invasion. The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the incident occurred around 6:05 pm on November 24, 2025, contradicting earlier reports of eleven kidnap victims.
Police Response and Community Assessment
According to police spokesperson Adetou Ejire-Adeyemi, the command received distress calls about sporadic gunfire at approximately 6:30 pm. Police operatives immediately mobilized patrol vehicles and tactical teams to the scene following the alert.
During the attack, one woman sustained gunshot wounds to her leg but has since received treatment and been discharged from medical care. Preliminary investigations revealed that armed invaders shot randomly throughout the community before taking hostages.
The situation prompted Commissioner of Police Adekimi Ojo to visit Isapa for an on-the-spot assessment. During his visit, the police chief met with traditional rulers including Oba Gbenga Adeyeye, the Onisapa of Isapa Land, and Oba Olu Fagbamila Raphael Olusegun, the Olokesa of Okesa Land, alongside local and youth leaders.
Rescue Operations and Community Trauma
A comprehensive search-and-rescue operation is currently underway involving police tactical teams and local vigilante groups who are combing surrounding bushes to locate and free the victims while apprehending the perpetrators.
Eyewitness accounts describe between twenty and thirty armed bandits storming the community with a large herd of cattle while firing shots indiscriminately. Residents reported finding expended AK-47 shells scattered throughout the community and bullet holes marking walls and doors after the attackers fled.
This incident comes just days after armed bandits attacked a Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku community within the same local government area, killing three people and abducting thirty-eight worshippers including a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers, and children.
Police authorities have assured residents of intensified efforts to rescue the victims safely and restore confidence in the area, noting that normalcy has returned to the community under strict monitoring.
