A 10-year-old girl sustained gunshot injuries when suspected kidnappers abducted a businessman in Irawo, Atisbo Local Government Area of Oyo State. The incident occurred on Monday, May 11, 2026.
Details of the Abduction
The victim, Alhaji Wasiu Aleshinloye, was reportedly trailed from Kraal Market in Ago-Are to his filling station and then to his residence, where he was taken at gunpoint. Three armed men carried out the abduction, and the victim's whereabouts remain unknown.
Injured Child
During the attack, 10-year-old Modinat Aleshinloye was hit by gunfire. She was rushed to a hospital for treatment and removal of pellets. Police spokesperson Olayinka Ayanlade confirmed the incident was reported at Tede Division around 10:20 p.m.
Police Investigation
According to Ayanlade, preliminary investigations revealed the businessman was followed from the market. Police recovered three expended shell casings for ballistic examination and three face caps for forensic analysis. Tactical and intelligence-led operations are ongoing to rescue the victim unharmed and arrest the perpetrators.
