In a significant victory for security forces, President Bola Tinubu announced the successful rescue of all kidnapped schoolgirls. President Tinubu declared enhanced security measures following the incident, ordering a comprehensive security cordon over forests in Kwara State and authorizing continuous aerial surveillance by the Air Force over remote areas. The activist led a multi-agency search and rescue operation that included military personnel from the 63 Brigade, the Emuhu Vigilante Group, Anti-Cult Abavo, Operation Soup, and police teams.
After an extensive search spanning from Emuhu to Abavo, Obi-Ayama, and finally Urhonigbe in Edo State, rescue teams located one of the kidnapped victims alive. However, the mission ended with tragic news regarding the second victim.
The survivor recounted heartbreaking details of how his colleague was killed after the man's family attempted to negotiate with the kidnappers using their limited resources.
