Security Forces Nab Kidnapping Suspect During Ransom Discussion

In a significant breakthrough for security operations in Taraba State, troops from the 6 Brigade and Operation Zafin Wuta have captured a suspected kidnapper while he was actively negotiating a N20 million ransom payment. The arrest occurred on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in the Jandei–Kulamu area of Wukari Local Government Area.

Intelligence-Led Operation Leads to Capture

According to military authorities, the successful operation was conducted based on credible intelligence that led troops directly to the suspect identified as Umar Musa Geyi. Army spokesperson Lieutenant Umar Mohammed confirmed that the suspect had been on the wanted list of multiple security agencies before his apprehension.

Preliminary investigations revealed disturbing details about the suspect's alleged criminal activities. Umar Musa Geyi is believed to be connected to the abduction of a Fulani resident, Alhaji Jano, who was kidnapped on November 13, 2025. Tragically, the victim remains in captivity despite the arrest of the suspected kidnapper.

Ongoing Investigation and Rescue Efforts

The military interception occurred during a critical moment when the suspect was engaged in telephone conversations about the ransom payment. Lieutenant Mohammed explained that troops captured Geyi after monitoring his communication and moving in at the opportune moment.

Currently, the suspect is in military custody undergoing intensive interrogation. Security forces are focusing their efforts on extracting information that could lead to the location and rescue of the abducted Fulani resident. The military has emphasized its commitment to using all available resources to ensure the victim's safe return.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, praised the troops for their professional execution of the operation and reaffirmed the Brigade's determination to dismantle criminal networks operating throughout Taraba State. This arrest represents another step in the ongoing campaign against kidnapping syndicates in the region.
