Bandits Kill One, Abduct Seven in Kaduna Community Attack

Bandits have carried out a violent attack in the Sabon Gyero community, located in Millennium City within the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, March 16, 2026, resulting in the tragic death of one person and the abduction of seven others.

Details of the Attack

The attackers reportedly invaded the community and targeted a specific residence, where they abducted three women and four children. In a separate but related incident, the bandits attacked a phone-charging centre in the area. During this assault, they shot and killed a young man identified as Abdullahi Lawal, popularly known as “Kurma.” Kurma, who was a deaf-mute, was shot in the head and was rushed to a hospital but died before reaching the medical facility.

Property Loss and Response

During the attack on the phone-charging centre, the bandits carted away several mobile phones and laptops. The Commandant of the Joint Task Force (JTF) in the area, Uwaisu Yunusa, confirmed the attack while speaking to journalists. He stated that members of the task force responded after hearing gunshots and attempted to pursue the attackers but were unable to catch up with them.

Aftermath and Release

It was gathered that one of the kidnapped women was later released by the abductors due to health complications. This development highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region, with communities facing frequent threats from bandit groups.
