A violent kidnapping attempt on a major road in Kogi State has ended in tragedy, leaving one person dead and two others injured after suspected bandits opened fire on a moving vehicle.
Attack on Ejule-Olamaboro Road
The incident unfolded on the Ejule–Olamaboro Road at approximately 5:00 p.m. on December 16. According to reports, a Toyota Corolla carrying passengers was targeted by armed men believed to be kidnappers.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama, citing a source, detailed that the assailants shot directly at the driver while the car was in motion. This sudden attack caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which then veered off the road and collided with a tree.
Rescue and Casualty
A swift response from a security patrol team led to the rescue of the three occupants from the wreckage. The victims were identified as Obinna Okoronkwo, Precious Okoronkwo, and Ochita Grant.
Tragically, Obinna Okoronkwo, who sustained a severe head injury during the crash, was later confirmed dead. His body has been deposited at the Iko Ojo Hospital Mortuary in Okpo. The other two occupants received injuries and are presumably receiving treatment.

In the aftermath of the attack, security forces have been mobilised to track down the suspected kidnappers. Authorities have intensified intelligence gathering and surveillance operations in the area with the goal of apprehending those responsible.
