Kidnapped Man Escapes Herdsmen, Reveals Three Victims Remain Captive
A man who was abducted by herdsmen has made a harrowing return to his family after managing to escape from his captors' den. The victim, identified as Mr. Anene, was kidnapped from his work site on March 16, alongside several other individuals, in a terrifying incident that has highlighted ongoing security concerns.
Ordeal and Demands
Following the kidnapping, the herdsmen demanded a ransom of N15 million from Mr. Anene's family, putting immense pressure on his loved ones. Fortunately, on Thursday, March 19, he managed to return home on his own, though not without visible signs of trauma and injury.
Upon his arrival, Mr. Anene was seen limping, with two men supporting him on both sides as he winced in pain while walking. His wife was overheard excitedly announcing his return over the phone, exclaiming, "Sister, my husband is back. My husband is back. Thank you Jesus," capturing the emotional relief of the moment.
Revelation of Remaining Captives
In a distressing disclosure, Mr. Anene stated that when he escaped, three more victims were still being held in the hideout. This group includes a woman who was kidnapped alongside him, and it is alleged that the herdsmen have been subjecting her to sexual abuse, adding a layer of brutality to the already dire situation.
The escape and subsequent revelations underscore the urgent need for enhanced security measures and support for victims of such crimes. Authorities are urged to investigate this case thoroughly and work towards the safe rescue of the remaining captives.
