Public Questions Arise Over Kwara Church Kidnapping Resolution

The release of 38 worshippers from Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State, has triggered mixed reactions among Nigerians, with many questioning the circumstances surrounding their freedom.

The victims, who were abducted during a church service on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, spent five days in captivity before their release was announced by President Bola Tinubu via his X account on Sunday, November 24.

Citizen Demands Accountability

A Nigerian man identified as Okey Anya (@realokeyanya) has taken to social media to demand transparency from the government regarding the rescue operation. In a direct response to President Tinubu's announcement, Anya posed three critical questions that have resonated with many concerned citizens.

"How were they rescued? How many of the terrorists were arrested or taken out by the security forces during this operation? How many are currently being interrogated to make sure this never happens again?? Pictures?? Videos??" Anya questioned in his viral post.

Mixed Public Reactions

The questions sparked diverse reactions from netizens, reflecting the divided opinions among Nigerians about security operations.

Some users supported Anya's inquiry, with @etukudo66086 commenting "Exactly the question I wanted to ask," while @Zulugold3 suggested "Please don't use arrested...killed is the word."

Others expressed skepticism about the government's transparency, with @Dr_Chomicay asking "U don't ask the main question. How much did the government pay to rescue them?"

However, some defended the government's handling of the situation. @AliyuUsman33666 stated "Mr man don't let your sense of judgement declined your reasoning everything is out and clear there's no politics here. NIGERIA great again."

Celebration and Concern

Despite the questions surrounding the rescue, the safe return of the worshippers was met with celebration. Actress Bukola Arugba, who had earlier raised concerns about the incident involving her relatives, expressed relief at their safe return.

The incident has highlighted ongoing concerns about security in worship places and the need for transparent operations against banditry in Nigeria.

As Eruku residents jubilated the return of their community members, the questions raised by citizens like Okey Anya continue to echo the need for accountability in security matters across the country.
