Ondo Police Apprehend Three Suspects in Akure Kidnapping Incident, Rescue Three Victims
The Ondo State Police Command has successfully arrested three suspects and rescued three victims in connection with a distressing kidnapping case that occurred in the Oda area of Akure. This development follows the widespread circulation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage on social media, which captured the abduction of a female victim in the presence of her young child.
Details of the Incident and Arrest
The CCTV footage, which went viral online, shows the moment the victim was forcibly taken by suspected criminals. In a heart-wrenching scene, the child is seen running into the house immediately after the assailants abducted the mother. The footage provided crucial evidence that prompted swift police action.
In a statement released on Sunday, March 22, the command's spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, detailed the operational response. Upon receiving the footage, the police immediately activated their intelligence team, utilizing digital surveillance analysis and coordinated field operations to identify and track down the suspects.
Investigation and Suspect Identification
Jimoh explained that operatives from the command's Anti-Kidnapping Squad acted on credible intelligence and investigative leads derived from the CCTV footage. This led to targeted operations resulting in the arrest of one suspect. During interrogation, this suspect provided valuable information that facilitated the subsequent apprehension of two other accomplices, all of whom were captured in the footage.
The suspects have been identified as:
- Mohammed Koro, male, aged 27 years
- Muhammad Usman, male, aged 30 years
- Musa Alhaji, male, aged 23 years
Preliminary investigations indicate that these individuals played various roles in the alleged kidnapping.
Rescue of Victims and Ongoing Efforts
In a positive turn, operational efforts have led to the successful rescue of three victims previously kidnapped by the syndicate. The rescued individuals are:
- Tosin Adesida, female
- Adeniran Adesuyi, male
- Adewunmi Adewusi, male
All three victims have been debriefed and taken to the nearest hospital for necessary medical attention. The suspects have made confessional statements that are aiding ongoing police efforts to arrest other members of the syndicate. They will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
