The Adamawa State Police Command has initiated a full-scale investigation into the shocking kidnapping and subsequent murder of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member. The victim, Beecroft Wenisefrus Dankunama, was reportedly killed while traveling to his hometown in Lamurde Local Government Area.

Details of the Tragic Incident

Beecroft Wenisefrus Dankunama, with NYSC state code KT/24C/1218, was a native of the Tsobo community in Furtu, Lamurde LGA. According to the Tsobo Youth Development Association (TYDA), the corps member had been deployed to Katsina State for his national service. He had briefly returned to Adamawa to seek medical attention before intending to resume his duties.

The association revealed that Dankunama was last seen in Lafiya while on his way to Furtu via Lamurde. He never reached his destination. Local sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, alleged that he was stopped in Lamurde, identified, abducted, and later killed by youths suspected to be militias. The tragic event is said to have occurred on Saturday, December 20, 2025.

Police Response and Investigation

The Police Public Relations Officer for the Adamawa State Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Monday, December 22, 2025. The statement detailed the swift action ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris Psc(+).

"The CP has immediately deployed the rescue operation team and scene of crime experts to Lamurde LGA, for an on-the-spot assessment and discreet investigation," the statement read. The primary objective is to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the corps member's death.

The police command has appealed for calm from the public, especially the affected community. They have also urged anyone with useful information that could aid the investigation to come forward and present their facts.
