In a significant victory against criminal elements, security operatives in Edo State have successfully rescued seven individuals who were kidnapped while working on their farmlands. The coordinated operation, which took place in the dense forests of Ewohimi community, demonstrates improved security responses in rural areas.

Details of the Abduction and Rescue

The incident began on Saturday, November 1, 2025, when armed men suspected to be kidnappers stormed the Ikeken Forest in Esan South-East Local Government Area. The victims had gone to their farms when the assailants captured them. According to official reports, one Enoch Omozokpia reported that his 65-year-old father, William Omozokpia, was among those taken alongside six others.

Acting swiftly on the report, the Divisional Police Officer of Ewohimi led a team of police operatives in a joint rescue mission with the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups. The security forces stormed the forest in a well-coordinated operation, engaging in intense bush combing that forced the abductors to abandon their captives and flee.

All seven victims were rescued unhurt and have since been reunited with their families. The rescued individuals have been identified as:

The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer of Edo State Command, Emem Ikoedem, confirmed the successful operation in a statement released on Saturday. She revealed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, commended the gallantry and professionalism displayed by all security personnel involved in the rescue mission.

Ikoedem reaffirmed the Command's unwavering commitment to the safety of all residents and assured that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
