Police Rescue Operation for Abducted Oyo Businessman

The Oyo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for suspected kidnappers following the abduction of a prominent businessman and politician, Alhaji Wasiu Aleshinloye, in the Oke-Ogun area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident in a statement yesterday. Ayanlade said the case was reported at the Tede Divisional Police Headquarters on May 11, 2026, at about 10:20 p.m.

According to preliminary investigations, the victim was allegedly trailed by three armed men from Kraal Market in Ago-Are to his filling station in Irawo and later to his residence, where he was abducted at gunpoint to an unknown destination. During the attack, a 10-year-old girl, Modinat Aleshinloye, sustained gunshot injuries.

The police spokesperson said the injured girl was immediately rushed to hospital for treatment and the extraction of pellets. He added that detectives who visited the scene recovered three expended ammunition shells and three face caps believed to have been used by the suspects. According to him, the recovered items are undergoing forensic examination as part of efforts to track down the perpetrators.

“The Oyo State Police Command has initiated tactical and intelligence-driven operations to rescue the victim unharmed and apprehend the perpetrators,” Ayanlade said.

The incident has generated anxiety in the Oke-Ogun area, with residents expressing concerns over rising insecurity and kidnapping activities in parts of the state. Aleshinloye is a well-known figure in the area with strong political and business interests.
