Troops Neutralise Notorious Kidnap Kingpin 'Amadu' in Kaduna Operation

In a significant security breakthrough, Nigerian troops have successfully neutralised a notorious kidnapping kingpin known as Amadu during a targeted raid in Kaduna State. The operation, which took place in Malafiya town, Atiku Ward of Jama’a Local Government Area, marks a critical victory in the ongoing fight against criminal syndicates terrorising the region.

Amadu's Reign of Terror

Amadu was identified as the leader of a dangerous criminal syndicate that had been instilling fear in Malafiya and surrounding communities. His gang was responsible for a wide range of heinous crimes, including kidnapping for ransom, cattle rustling, and armed robbery. According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, Amadu had long been on the most-wanted lists of various security agencies due to his involvement in several high-profile criminal activities.

Notably, he was linked to the k!lling of a businessman in September 2025 and an attempted abduction of a relative of a prominent local figure, highlighting the severe threat he posed to public safety and economic stability in the area.

Operation Details and Outcome

Acting on credible intelligence regarding the gang's hideout, troops conducted a decisive raid on January 25, 2026, with the objective of apprehending the remaining criminal elements. During the operation, an intense exchange of fire erupted between the troops and the suspects. In the ensuing engagement, Amadu attempted to flee but was neutralised by the security forces.

A subsequent search of the scene led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, providing further evidence of the gang's illicit activities. The successful operation has since brought a sense of calm to the general area, with security agencies intensifying clearance and confidence-building patrols to prevent any resurgence of criminal activities and ensure lasting peace for residents.
