Nigerian Army Thwarts Terrorist Ambush in Borno State
The Nigerian Army has reported that troops from the 25 Task Force Brigade successfully repelled a deadly ambush by terrorists in Wajiroko, Azir Multe, located in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Details of the Encounter
According to a weekend statement released by Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, the incident occurred when troops were returning from a routine patrol mission aimed at securing communities around Wajiroko. The patrol team, which had just completed a successful operation within the fringes of Sambisa Forest, came under sudden and heavy fire from insurgents.
The patrol was led by Brigadier General M Uba, Commander of the 25 Brigade, and included a combined force of regular army personnel and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF). Despite the element of surprise, the troops demonstrated remarkable courage and professionalism during the attack.
Gallant Response and Outcome
Military authorities confirmed that the security forces fought through the ambush with superior firepower, forcing the terrorists to withdraw in disarray and abandon their mission. The swift and decisive response prevented what could have been a more devastating attack on the military formation.
Unfortunately, the encounter resulted in the death of two soldiers and two Civilian Joint Task Force members who paid the supreme price while defending the nation. The Army high command has extended its condolences to the families and associates of the fallen heroes, acknowledging their ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
Army Dismisses False Reports
The Army statement also addressed and dismissed online reports that claimed the Brigade Commander was abducted during the ambush. Lieutenant Colonel Anele described these reports as completely false and urged the public to disregard such misinformation.

In a show of solidarity and appreciation, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, praised the soldiers for their resilience and sacrifice.
