In a significant counter-terrorism breakthrough, Nigerian military forces have liberated 86 kidnapped civilians and dismantled a terrorist stronghold in Borno State during coordinated operations on November 9, 2025.
Major Rescue Operation Along Buratai-Kamuya Road
The successful mission began when surveillance systems detected suspicious terrorist movements along the Buratai-Kamuya roadway. Troops from the 135 Special Forces Battalion, operating under Sector 2 of Operation HADIN KAI, quickly responded to the distress signal and intercepted the insurgents at Dutse Kura.
Military personnel engaged the terrorists, thwarting their kidnapping operation and pursuing the fleeing militants toward Mangari. During the subsequent confrontation near an insurgent encampment, the terrorists were overpowered and forced to retreat in disarray, abandoning their captives and equipment.
Significant Recoveries and Camp Destruction
Following the engagement, troops conducted thorough searches that revealed 11 makeshift terrorist structures and led to the liberation of 86 hostages. The rescued individuals included men, women, and children who had been abducted by the insurgents.
Security forces recovered substantial military equipment and supplies from the scene, including:
- One AK-47 rifle with five magazines containing 73 rounds
- Four PKT ammunition belts
- Five civilian vehicles and five motorcycles
- Eight bicycles and two logistics tricycles
The terrorist camp was completely destroyed during clearance operations conducted at the location.
Logistics Network Disruption
In a related development, troops stationed at Mangada intercepted and arrested 29 suspected terrorist logistics suppliers who were en route to Chilaria. The apprehended individuals were transporting critical supplies intended for insurgent groups.
Authorities confiscated substantial resources from the suppliers, including:
- Two pickup vans and a tricycle loaded with Premium Motor Spirit
- Approximately 1,000 liters of petrol in jerricans
- Four gallons of engine oil and two new gun truck tires
- Extensive medical supplies and large quantities of food provisions
All military operations were completed without any casualties among government forces, according to official statements.
Military Leadership Commends Success
The Military High Command praised the courage and professionalism demonstrated by the troops during these operations. Command authorities have directed Operation HADIN KAI to maintain its offensive posture to further restrict terrorist activities throughout Nigeria's North East region.
Media Information Officer Sani Uba of the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI confirmed these developments in an official statement released on Sunday, highlighting the ongoing commitment to securing the region from terrorist threats.
