Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), has made an urgent appeal to the Federal Government to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the tragic abduction and killing of Brigadier General Musa Uba by terrorists in Borno State.
Growing Security Crisis Demands Immediate Action
The former two-term governor expressed deep concern about the rapidly deteriorating security situation across Nigeria. Kwankwaso strongly condemned the brutal murder of the senior military officer and emphasized the critical need for authorities to uncover the exact circumstances surrounding this devastating incident.
In his statement posted on social media platform X, Kwankwaso described the killing of Brigadier General Uba as "one of the darkest moments in our fight against terrorism" and stressed that it requires immediate and thorough investigation to ensure accountability.
Multiple Security Incidents Highlight National Emergency
Kwankwaso pointed to several recent security breaches that demonstrate the severity of Nigeria's insecurity problem. These include the abduction of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State, mass kidnappings in Zamfara State, bandit attacks in Shanono and Ghari Local Government Areas of Kano State, and a terrorist attack on a church in Eruku, Kwara State.
"The recent surge in insecurity in Nigeria demands urgent attention from all authorities, especially the Federal Government," Kwankwaso stated. "The kidnapping of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State is deeply worrying and echoes a disturbing pattern from our recent past."
Call for Coordinated Government Response
While acknowledging the Kano State Government's prompt response to security challenges, including providing operational vehicles to security forces, Kwankwaso emphasized that the Federal Government must fulfill its primary constitutional responsibility to protect all Nigerian citizens.
Regarding the church attack in Eruku, Kwara State, the NNPP leader noted that reports confirm congregation members were both murdered and abducted during the assault. He described this incident as "yet another grim reminder of the alarming surge in violence disturbing our nation."
Kwankwaso extended his deepest condolences to all victims of these attacks and their families, while reiterating his call for the Federal Government to take immediate and decisive action to secure the safe release and return of all kidnapped victims.
He concluded by urging the government to reinvigorate the armed forces and empower the Nigeria Police Force to effectively protect and defend citizens against the growing threats of terrorism and banditry plaguing the nation.
