Troops of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), successfully rescued a kidnapped woman after foiling a terrorist attack in Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State. The operation took place at approximately 11:22 p.m. on July 26, 2026.
Joint Response to Distress Call
According to military sources, the joint security team swiftly mobilized after receiving a distress call from Karkata Village. The troops, deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Radda, encountered the armed terrorists before reaching the affected community.
Heavy Fire Exchange
The troops engaged the assailants with a heavy volume of fire, forcing them to abandon the kidnapped woman and flee into the surrounding bush. The victim was rescued and later reunited with her family.
No casualties were reported among the security personnel. The number of casualties suffered by the fleeing terrorists could not be immediately ascertained. Troops have intensified pursuit operations to apprehend the suspects and prevent further attacks in the area.
