NKST Confirms Abduction

Nongo u Kristu u i Ser u sha Tar, NKST, (Universal Reformed Christian Church) confirmed the abduction in a statement signed by its General Secretary, Rev. Dr. T. A. Targba, on Tuesday, June 30. The church described the incident as unfortunate and called on all clergy, members, congregations, and the general public to join in fervent prayers for the safe and unconditional release of Rev. Dr. Gbinde and the two church members.

Church Calls for Action

The statement expressed sympathy with the affected families and the congregation, praying that God would grant them strength, comfort, and hope during the difficult period. NKST urged relevant security agencies, as well as the Benue State and Federal Governments, to act swiftly to secure the victims' rescue and ensure that those behind the abduction are apprehended and brought to justice. The church further called on both levels of government to adopt more proactive and sustained measures to tackle kidnapping and other forms of insecurity, stressing the need to prevent such crimes rather than merely responding after they occur.

Faith and Prayer

Reaffirming its faith in God, the church said it remains steadfast in prayer, trusting for the safe return of Rev. Dr. Gbinde, his companions, and all those currently held captive. The abduction adds to the growing security challenges in Benue State and the broader region, where kidnappings for ransom have become increasingly common. According to the church, the victims were taken from the pastor's residence at NKST Church, Andyar, in Ishan Classis of Benue State. The church is appealing for calm and collective prayer while authorities work to secure the release of the abducted individuals.
