The family of a teacher and farmer with the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mohammed Abubakar Ndakpada, has lamented that bandits are still holding him despite receiving N12 million ransom and other items.
Abduction and Ransom Payment
Ndakpada, a resident of Lata-Nna community in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, was abducted by suspected bandits on July 30, 2026. According to the family, the abductors demanded and received N12 million, alongside food, drinks and other items, as part of negotiations for his release.
New Demand for Additional Ransom
However, despite fulfilling the demands, the kidnappers have allegedly refused to release Ndakpada and have now demanded an additional N5 million ransom. The family has expressed distress over the situation, noting that they have already made significant sacrifices to secure his freedom.
Ongoing Ordeal and Family Appeal
The continued detention of Ndakpada has raised concerns within the community about the safety of residents and the effectiveness of ransom negotiations in such cases. The family is appealing for intervention from security agencies and the government to ensure his safe release.
