A resident, Esther Udoh, has released photographs showing the three-storey shopping complex in the Alakija area of the Lagos-Badagary Expressway before it collapsed on Thursday, June 25, 2026. The building, which housed shops and business premises, came down suddenly, trapping numerous individuals inside.
Casualties and Rescue Operations
According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), at least eight people, including an infant girl, have been confirmed dead. Twenty-six other victims were rescued from the rubble as emergency responders continued search and rescue operations at the scene. Udoh, who also shared a video of herself at the scene, reported that a friend's nephew who was trapped has been rescued.
