Boko Haram releases obituary for slain videographer

Boko Haram has released a video obituary for one of its media operatives, Abu Salim al-Barnawi, who was killed by Nigerian troops during a failed assault on a military base in Borno State.

Details of the Incident

The Acting Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, shared the video clip on Wednesday. Last week, military troops killed scores of Boko Haram terrorists, including their videographer/cameraman, in an intense firefight that took place in the Lake Chad Basin area.

According to Goni, “Al-Barnawi was smoked last week by the Nigerian army when the terrorist group attacked a Nigerian military camp. He was the cameraman…he previously led raids into Cameroon before joining the media wing of the terrorist group.”
