The Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has issued an urgent appeal to the public for assistance in locating the family of a two-year-old girl who was found abandoned at Ramat Park in Benin City. The child, identified only as Treasure and described as having a dark complexion, was discovered on Thursday, July 9, 2026, by a compassionate Nigerian citizen who immediately reported the incident to the Ikpoba Hill Police Station.
Police and Ministry Intervention
According to a statement released by the ministry on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, the police referred the matter to the State Criminal Investigation Department (State C.I.D.) for preliminary investigations. Following these inquiries, the child was officially handed over to the Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development for care and protection.
