A 42-year-old pastor in Florida has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy and allegedly exposing him to HIV without disclosing his status. The suspect, Timothy Chaneyfield, leads St. James United American Free Will Baptist Church in Florida, as reported by Fox News.
Investigation Initiated by Instagram Cyber Tip
According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the investigation began after Instagram submitted a cyber tip regarding suspicious communication between an adult and a minor, as reported by WZTV. Detectives then interviewed the alleged victim, who stated he met Chaneyfield through a dating application before moving their conversations to Instagram.
Authorities allege that Chaneyfield picked up the teenager from his neighborhood on three separate occasions and took him to his residence. During questioning, Chaneyfield reportedly admitted to engaging in sexual activity with the child.
HIV Status and Additional Charges
The case escalated when detectives discovered that Chaneyfield is HIV positive and receiving treatment. Authorities claim he failed to inform the teenager of his HIV status before engaging in sexual activity. Consequently, he faces multiple charges, including unlawful use of a communication device, traveling to meet an individual, several counts related to non-disclosure of HIV status, and drug-related offenses.
Chaneyfield was arrested at Orlando International Airport on July 29 after returning from a trip. He also worked as a hospice chaplain and was scheduled to officiate a funeral. He is currently held on a bond exceeding $350,000.

The case has sparked intense public discussion due to the gravity of the allegations and Chaneyfield's prominent role in his community. As investigations continue, authorities urge anyone with additional information to come forward.
