The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, has deployed 32 patrol vehicles, six motorcycles, three ambulances, and two tow trucks as part of operational logistics to reduce Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) and ensure smooth traffic flow along major corridors in the state during the Sallah festive period.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen by the corps' Public Relations Officer, Afolabi Odunsi, in Abeokuta, the state capital. Ogunjobi explained that the deployment aims to enhance visibility patrol, prompt rescue response, traffic control, and effective enforcement of traffic regulations throughout the festive period.
He admonished residents of Ogun State and the motoring public to take responsibility for their safety by avoiding reckless driving, dangerous overtaking, overloading, speeding, use of mobile phones while driving, drunk driving, and other traffic violations that could cause crashes on the highways. According to him, speeding beyond the approved speed limit remains one of the major causes of Road Traffic Crashes. He warned that any driver found violating traffic regulations would be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
Speaking ahead of the Sallah celebration, the Sector Commander emphasized the need for patience, tolerance, and discipline among motorists and other road users. "As we celebrate Sallah, I urge all motorists to make safety their top priority. Avoid speeding, dangerous driving, and drunk driving. Obey traffic rules and cooperate with traffic officers deployed across the highways. Let us all remember that no journey is worth the loss of a life. Drive with care and arrive alive," he said.
The Sector Commander further reiterated that road safety is a shared responsibility and called on all stakeholders, transport unions, fleet operators, and passengers to support the Corps in achieving a crash-free festive season. He wished all residents and road users a peaceful, safe, and hitch-free Sallah celebration. "Drive with Care; Better Late Than Never," he added.
