Police in Imo State have arrested a woman accused of brutally assaulting a 13-year-old girl under her care. The suspect, said to be from Udi, Enugu State, allegedly damaged the minor's eyes with a stick, leaving them swollen shut.
Journalist Leads Rescue Operation
Imo-based journalist and activist Chidiebube Okeoma disclosed the arrest on Thursday, August 6, 2026. He said he led a team of police officers to apprehend the woman and rescue the battered child. Videos shared online show the girl with severe swelling around her eyes, indicating the extent of the abuse.
Victim Hospitalised, Suspect in Custody
The minor, also from Enugu State, has been taken to a hospital for medical treatment. The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue. Okeoma's swift action drew attention to the case, prompting public outrage and calls for justice.
