An InDrive driver has been arrested and detained at the Panti police station following multiple allegations of molestation and assault from female passengers. The suspect was taken into custody after a victim, identified as Ms. Nhaomi, came forward with harrowing details of an attack that occurred on the day of her father's funeral.
According to Ms. Nhaomi, who posted on SnapChat, she ordered an InDrive ride on the day of her father's funeral. However, she never made it to the funeral. She claims the driver took her to a different location and attacked her. She alleged that he stabbed her, stripped her naked, threatened to kill her and sell her body parts, forced her to say her last prayers, and placed a container of acid on her cheek. He also stole her phone, passport, and gold jewelry worth millions of naira.
Victim Calls for Others to Testify
Ms. Nhaomi said she has been seeking justice since the incident. She has connected with other victims who have also posted about the same driver online over the years, alleging similar assaults. She called on any other victims to come to Panti on Wednesday, June 24, to testify against the suspect.
She shared a video of the suspect with his hands cuffed behind him at the police station. She added that her father, whose funeral she missed due to the assault, can now rest in peace since the driver has been apprehended.
Investigation Ongoing
Police are continuing their investigation, and more victims are encouraged to come forward. The suspect remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
