The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has donated operational vehicles, bulletproof vests, ballistic helmets, and protective boots to the Police Violent Crime Response Unit and the Lagos State Task Force to strengthen operational effectiveness.
Presentation Ceremony at Police Command
Presenting the vehicles and other equipment to the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit of the Lagos State Police Command, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of LSSTF, Dr Ayodele Ogunsan, said the growing demand for stronger security infrastructure, rapid response capability, and improved operational readiness in Lagos had made sustained investment in security increasingly imperative.
According to him, maintaining peace, stability, and public confidence requires continuous investment in the welfare, mobility, and protection of frontline personnel. He added that the operational vehicles and equipment would enhance efficiency, preparedness, and coordinated response across the state.
Handover to Commissioner of Police
The security equipment and response vehicles were formally received by the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, during a handover ceremony attended by senior police officers and other security stakeholders. The Violent Crime Response Unit, recently launched by the Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, was established to strengthen rapid operational deployment and improve coordinated response capacity across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking during the presentation, Ogunsan reaffirmed the LSSTF's commitment to providing operational support, logistics, and protective equipment to enhance policing efficiency and personnel safety across the state. He noted that effective security management requires sustained collaboration between government institutions and security agencies, stressing that Lagos must remain proactive in equipping frontline personnel with modern tools required to effectively discharge their duties.
