MUSWEN Calls for Enhanced Security Measures During Eid-el-Kabir Celebrations
MUSWEN Urges Stronger Security at Eid-el-Kabir

The Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) has congratulated Muslims across Nigeria and the world on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, while calling on all levels of government to ramp up efforts in addressing the nation's security challenges.

In a statement jointly signed by MUSWEN President, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, and Executive Secretary, Professor Wole Abbas, the organization extended its felicitations to Muslims for the successful completion of the 2026 Hajj rites in Saudi Arabia and the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.

MUSWEN described Eid-el-Kabir as a time for reflection, obedience, and sacrifice, inspired by the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim. The group urged Muslims to embrace values of patience, selflessness, and charity by supporting the less privileged during the festive period.

“Eid-el-Kabir represents a period of deep reflection, obedience, and ultimate sacrifice, inspired by the profound devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (AS). We urge all Muslims to embody the core values of selflessness, patience, and charity, especially by sharing meals and extending kindness to the less privileged during this sacred season,” the statement read.

While celebrating the festival, MUSWEN expressed concern over the persistent security issues affecting various parts of the country. According to the group, peace and security are vital for economic growth and social development, and governments and security agencies must strengthen efforts to protect lives and property.

The organization called for a more proactive, intelligence-driven approach to combat banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency nationwide. It also appealed to Nigerians to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious movements and activities in their communities.

“MUSWEN urges those in authority to prioritize the welfare of the masses and ensure that the promises of democracy translate into tangible benefits for all Nigerians, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation,” the statement added.

The body further urged Muslims in the South West to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and committed to national development, while continuing to pray for the country and its leaders.
